  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar for cheesecake
  • 1 large egg for cheesecake
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract for cheesecake
  • ¾ cup blackberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar for blackberry swirl

Instructions

  1. Make the blackberry swirl by heating blackberries with sugar and lemon juice in a saucepan for about 5 minutes. Strain if desired and set aside to cool.
  2. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. Melt butter and chocolate together in a heatproof bowl. Stir until smooth, then mix in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Combine dry ingredients with wet mixture.
  5. Prepare the cheesecake swirl by beating cream cheese with sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth; spoon over brownie batter.
  6. Add dollops of blackberry sauce on top and gently swirl using a skewer or knife.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes until the center is just set. Allow to cool before slicing.
