Instructions

  1. Scrub oranges thoroughly and slice them into ⅛-inch rounds.
  2. Blanch the slices in boiling water for 10 minutes, then transfer to ice water.
  3. In the same pot, dissolve sugar in water and bring to a boil.
  4. Add blanched orange slices to syrup; simmer for 45-60 minutes until translucent.
  5. Place slices on wire racks over cookie sheets and bake at 175°F for 30 minutes.
  6. Roll in sugar and continue baking for an additional 1-1½ hours until mostly dry.
