  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine butter, sugar, and water over medium heat; stir until melted.
  3. Bring mixture to a boil while stirring continuously until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  4. Remove from heat, add vanilla extract and chopped nuts, mixing well.
  5. Pour the hot mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly.
  6. While warm, sprinkle chocolate chips on top; let them melt slightly before spreading.
  7. Finish with additional nuts or flaked sea salt if desired.
  8. Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
