  • 2/3 cup whole milk (room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup dulce de leche (for filling the cupcakes)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 2/3 cup dulce de leche (for frosting)
  • 2 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar (sifted)
  • Pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. Cream unsalted butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3–4 minutes.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition; stir in sour cream, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and milk.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fill each liner with one tablespoon of batter, add a dollop of dulce de leche in the center, then top with more batter until two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean; cool completely before frosting.
