  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • ½ cup sugar mixed with 2 tablespoons cinnamon (for coating)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (for dipping sauce)
  • ⅓ cup coconut cream (for dipping sauce)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine water, sugar, and salt. Bring to a gentle boil then remove from heat.
  2. Stir in flour until fully combined, then mix in baking powder until smooth.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip and pipe strips (about six inches long) into the hot oil.
  5. Fry churros until golden brown on all sides, approximately two minutes per side.
  6. Remove from oil and roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture while warm.
  7. For the dipping sauce, melt chocolate chips with coconut cream over low heat until smooth.
