Italian Sausage Orzo is a richly flavored one-pot dish that brings comfort and satisfaction to your weeknight meals. This creamy pasta combines Italian sausage and orzo in a luxurious sauce made from heavy cream and parmesan, all while being quick and easy to prepare.

  • 16 ounces Italian sausage
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 34 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup uncooked orzo pasta
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups fresh baby spinach
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a soup pot or Dutch oven, brown the Italian sausage over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add chopped onions and cook for another 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in minced garlic, red pepper flakes (if using), and uncooked orzo; sauté for about 30 seconds.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream; bring to a gentle simmer and cook uncovered for approximately 10 minutes, stirring often.
  5. Remove from heat; stir in grated parmesan and fresh spinach. Let sit for 3-5 minutes before serving.
