  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm water, yeast, and sugar in a small bowl. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine flour, softened butter, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and knead until smooth (8-10 minutes).
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour until doubled.
  4. Punch down dough and divide into 12-14 equal pieces; shape into ropes and place on a baking sheet.
  5. Cover shaped breadsticks and let rise again for 20-30 minutes until puffy.
  6. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. While baking, mix melted butter with garlic powder and salt for topping; brush over warm breadsticks after baking.
