  • 3/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup white distilled vinegar
  • 1/2 cup cane sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • Crushed red pepper flakes
  • Garlic and ginger

Instructions

  1. Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces. In a bowl, whisk egg, sunflower oil, salt, and pepper; coat chicken well.
  2. Combine cornstarch and flour in another bowl. Dredge chicken pieces in the mixture until fully coated.
  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches until golden brown (about 5–7 minutes). Drain on paper towels.
  4. For the sauce, combine vinegar, sugar, water, soy sauce, red pepper flakes, garlic, ginger, orange juice concentrate, sesame oil, rice wine, and cornstarch in a saucepan over medium heat; stir until thickened.
  5. Toss fried chicken with the sauce until evenly coated and serve hot over rice or noodles.
