  • 3 cups low sodium beef broth
  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 yellow onions (quartered and thinly sliced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 46 sturdy rolls
  • 812 slices of cheese (provolone, Swiss, or Havarti)

Instructions

  1. Season the roast generously with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large measuring cup, mix beef broth with Worcestershire sauce; set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat; sear the beef on all sides until browned.
  4. In the same skillet, cook onions for about 5 minutes; add garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. Pour some broth mixture into the skillet, scraping up brown bits for added flavor.
  6. Transfer seared beef and onion mixture to the slow cooker; pour remaining broth over the top.
  7. Cook on low for 8 hours or until beef is tender.
