  • 250 grams olive oil (or half olive oil, half sunflower oil)
  • 50 grams honey
  • 100 grams sugar
  • 550 grams all-purpose flour
  • Spices: cinnamon, clove, nutmeg
  • Baking essentials: baking soda and baking powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare the syrup by simmering sugar, honey, water, cinnamon stick, cloves, and orange peel until slightly thickened. Cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, semolina, baking powder, baking soda, and spices.
  3. Combine wet ingredients (olive oil, orange juice, honey, water, sugar) in another bowl and mix well.
  4. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into the wet mixture to form a soft dough.
  5. Shape into oval cookies and place on a lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Soak cookies in cooled syrup for one minute per side before garnishing with honey and ground walnuts.
